EquinYar™ Classic

Currently available yeast-based products rely mainly on sugar-processing Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. Yarrowia lipolytica uses fat as sources of carbon and energy, hence guaranteeing a higher content of valuable, bioavailable nutrients.

Among nutrients of a particularly high value provided by Yarrowia lipolytica yeast in the EquinYar Classic formula are:

• a full range of exogenous amino acids
• bioactive selenium in valuable organic complexes with sulphuric amino acids: selenomethionine and selenocysteine
• essential microelements, with particularly high content of zinc, manganese and cobalt
• macroelements that regulate electrolyte balance: calcium, sodium, potassium and chloride
• unsaturated fatty acids, including linoleic acid with its valuable omega-3 bonds
• vitamin B complex
• cytrulline maleate, alpha ketoglutarate and kynurenic acid

In collaboration with The Natural Science University in Wroclaw, we have performed a research on the efficacy of supplementation with Yarrowia lipolytica in nutrition of farm and sport horses. Using advanced analytical methods we have evaluated differences in morphology and biochemical parameters of blood. We also analyzed horses’ hair using electron scanning micro-scope. Results obtained for the experimental group compared to a control were encouraging:

• Blood cell counts improved, and,
• Morphological evaluation of hair showed a significant hair core to sheath ratio improvement, reduction of superficial corneous husk changes and absence of the hair axis twist in the perifol-licular area.

Additionally, horses receiving Y. lipolytica supplements were in excellent condition, eager to work, and had a significantly lower level of muscular acidosis after exercise.
